“Life is a promise, fulfill it”…
Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is life, fight for it.”
― Mother Teresa
As I soak up every moment of my time here in Santa Teresa, I thought you might like these words by Mother Teresa as much as I do.
On Monday, I will fold my belongings into my rolling duffel (for what feels like the 700th time in 9 months) and make the 6-hour trek back to San Jose. I’m excited to meet a fellow adventurer and special breast cancer sister as well as to spend time understanding the landscape of cancer in Costa Rica before flying back to Vancouver on Wednesday.
But for now, I want to stay right here in beautiful Santa Teresa. I want to feel the squish of sand between my toes as I breathe in the the heady scent of salt and feel the humid waves of air on my skin. As I walk the shoreline, I’m sure memories from the past six months will intersperse with Mother Teresa’s words and my daydreams for the future.
Is there a line in the quote that resonates with you today? I’m torn between “Life is an adventure, dare it” and “Life is a promise, fulfill it”. I’d love to hear yours…

I love this quote. Thank you for sharing it. Mother Teresa is one of my heroines, one whom I admire for what she said as well as what she did. Besides the lines you mention, I’m torn between these two lines of the quote:
“Life is a promise, fulfill it.” and “Life is a song, sing it.” I admire you for all you’ve done. Have a very good flight back. xx
Every line needs to be pondered. Each one touches a vital chord within.
Safe travels, Terri. I can’t believe you are heading home in three days. It seems like YESTERDAY you were headed for Viet Nam and stranded….. You are concluding quite a chapter, indeed. I can’t wait to catch up with you in NYC2012!
Love and hugs,
AnneMarie
Another beautifully written piece of words that touch the soul….. Thank you for sharing the poem written by Mother Teresa which reminds me to Live Life Now…. You are amazing Terri.
Mother Teresa’s words are a meditation on life and divine purpose. Thank you for bringing those words and her message to all of us Terri, in such a special way.
You are an incredible woman and you have and are changing lives.
Jody
I’ve been honored to be part of your Adventure and your life. Can’t wait to squeeze you again and see that booty shakin’!
I would choose “Life is an Adventure, dare it”…. for what I like and for all the travels I did. In this statement, all the others are included…
With adventure comes opportunities who bring benifits to your life.
With adventure, you see the beauty of life, poeple, nature…and you feel your dreams coming true! Adventure is a daily challenge, you don’t know what will happen, how sometimes things will turn out and you have to complete your day, find a way….It’s a game, because sometimes it’s fun, sometimes you have to take a chance…you will have good moments and time you feel lonely want to give up or have to say goodbye.
Adventue make life worthit; Meeting people, the laughter of kids, the differences you see, what you learn from others…this is the music of life!! Adventure is to see and live tragedy and see the miserry of others, and t realize how lucky you are; everyone makes its luck by the choices we make! ….and thes are things that make you want to do more and fight for what you care , what you want or what you need. This is why for me Life is an Adventure…and I dare to continue……
Thank you Terri 🙂 Love you
Caroline, my friend – I love what you have to say about Adventure and you’re so right – we only have to “dare it” to experience more amazing things than we could possibly dream of. I’m so happy that my Adventures brought me to Cusco, so I could meet you. What a wonderful time we had and I can’t wait to see you again and find new ways to continue to Dare Life. Big hugs. Terri
