The Ripple Effect: Interview with Journeys4Good
“It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope.”
Robert Francis Kennedy
I love this quote and love what the website Journeys4Good is doing to create ripples of hope and change around the world.
Over the last 15 years, husband and wife production team Steve and Joanie Wynn have traveled the world together, producing stories for Travel Channel, History Channel, Discovery, HBO and Conservation Corporation Africa.
Their recent documentary, “A Journey for Good: Tanzania” aired across the United States and resulted in 4 Emmy Nominations and 2 Telly Awards. It also inspired the creation of the Journeys4Good website to help people around the world learn about meaningful international travel opportunities.
I recently had the privilege of connecting with Joanie and was thrilled to participate in a 2-part interview for their Ripple Effect series. (The Ripple Effect explores the emotional impact of volunteer travel and its lasting effects on people’s lives.) In the interview, I share some of the hi-lights of my Adventure of Hope as well as a sneak peak into what is on the horizon for 2013.

On another note, I want to give a shout out to Katie at Go Overseas for compiling the 2012 Volunteer Abroad Report. Guess which country got the MOST searches for international volunteer opportunities? I’ll give you a hint…the Fresh Chapter Foundation is planning a BIG HAIRY AUDACIOUS trip there in February 2013.
Stay tuned for more about my experience with change makers in Calgary as well as exciting details about #Delhi2013…

Hi Terri,
I read your interview and left a comment on Journeys4Good, but fear it’s one of those blogs that my comments don’t stick.
There are so many Baby Boomers who’re at an age when they have the time and money to travel and so many want to give back. I hope your story reaches them and plants the seed that they, too, can volunteer.
Love,
Brenda
