Don’t Try To Win Over The Haters…

Terri Wingham is the founder and CEO of A Fresh Chapter, a cancer survivor, and someone who believes that we are not defined by the most difficult aspects of our story.

Before I get ahead of myself and tell you about my recent encounter with a hater, let me take you back to last Tuesday night when CTV National featured our story on the evening news across Canada.

Reporter Melanie Nagy did a wonderful job of squeezing over 45 minutes of interviews and in-country footage into this 2-minute segment.

Although it captured just a slice of our whole story, on Wednesday morning, I learned first-hand how a little bit of press can put a red arrow on your back. (more…)

It amazes me that someone would take the time to tear someone else down like that… But good for you Terri. It’s always the good that counts, no matter how much bad surrounds it. Love you!

Thanks sweet friend. Love you right back!

Good for you Terri> I wish you all the success . The individual who expressed such diatribe, may want to get a hold of Ripyard Kipling’s poem ” IF ” and read it. It might turn him around. Who knows. Good Luck Terri and keep on trucking.. 🙂

    Thanks Gordon! Really appreciate it.

Email .. the best and worst form on communication on the planet. Anonomously sending hate email has to be the lowest, most cowardly form of bullying ever. Terri while I haven’t connected with you in years I try to follow a “fresh chapter” here and there when I get a chance and always enjoy your insightfulness. Keep up the good work you do.

Karen – What a wonderful treat to hear from you! Thank you so much for the support and for sharing your words. Have a great week. Terri

Anger comes in words of regret. I don’t read the words but look at the feeling then back further to the thought that provoked the outburst. There has been unhealed suffering – putting others down is a coping skill. It does not evoke bad feelings for me and I offer these people my silent loving kindness that they will find their peace.
Authenticity finds inner peace – I am grateful to a fresh chapter that I am more peaceful from my turbulent cancer journey.

Alex – Thank you so much for sharing. It’s all about peace and I’m so glad A Fresh Chapter and India helped you find more. Terri xo

Rather than stew on the cutting words, you’ve separated the useful feedback from the hurtful ranting and used it to improve your vision. You’ve somehow found the gift in it which is a great reminder for me to do the same.

Thanks for doing what you are doing for cancer survivors. Your work is very important to me personally as I near the end of my treatment. The ‘what’s next’ is a little less scary now.

Dearest Terri!! Wow I’m completely and deeply touch, moved and inspired by who you are being in this world and the difference you are making for others who share your journey…… You are such a beautiful expression of heart and soul. This is who we “all” are at the Soul level…….so my hope would be that the man who sent you the note finds the true nature of his Soul……

    With Love and Gratitude Jo-Dea

Jo-Dea – What a huge pleasure to hear from you. I think of our time together in Cuzco often and wish I could beam us both back there for a visit. Hope you are doing really well. Big love. Terri

Thanks for writing about this topic. It’s true that the more exposure you get the more you become a target for this kind of person. I’d like to ask what that person has done to make a difference??

  • Terri Wingham • May 7, 2013

Thanks Marie – Really appreciate your kindness and support!
