THE POWER OF SHARING THE DREAM
After writing this post just over a month ago and telling all of you about my dream for our North American program, I hoped I wasn’t setting myself up for massive disappointment. Dreaming big and then sharing that dream publicly is not easy. It usually leads to fear of failure, sleepless nights, and even remorse for opening your mouth in the first place.
Sometimes you want to quit. Sometimes, you question whether you are crazy to believe it’s possible. But, if you’re persistent and willing to take that leap of faith, sometimes (often) magic happens. At the last minute, all of the pieces fall into place and even if it doesn’t look exactly like you pictured, sometimes it looks even better.
Thanks to old and new friends and partners, our first North American pilot program is about to kick off and we can’t wait to select 12 cancer survivors to join us.
PROGRAM DETAILS & OUR PARTNERS
We have put together a diverse 2 days that we hope will ignite a spark for volunteering, help survivors remember the power of believing in new possibilities, and build memories to sustain our participants through the highs and lows of living with and beyond cancer. On Friday, Nov 15th & Saturday, Nov 16th, we are delighted to partner with Garden School Foundation, Generate Possibility, Organic Foodee, & Tara’s Restaurant. To learn more about our partners, click here.
Sample Weekend Activities
- Volunteering alongside kids, parents, and community members at the Garden School Foundation’s community garden. Whether planting, pruning, or participating in a cooking class, you will have the chance to build new friendships while leaving your mark on the garden and the people you interact with.
- Through our partnership with Generate Possibility and Ysanne Spevack (Los Angeles Times, etc), you will have a unique opportunity to meditate to live music, explore Venice Beach, experience a spectacular sunset, discover how delicious food can enhance your sense of wellbeing, and participate in an interactive evening of food and laughter.
- A trip to the other side of the world. We can’t wait to weave in elements of our India program without you needing to get on an airplane. With time to reflect on your dreams, a visit to a place of incredible tranquility and a meal that will leave you wanting more, you will have a taste of all of the adventures that are still to come for you.
