Stuck in an Infomercial Vortex…

Terri Wingham is the founder and CEO of A Fresh Chapter, a cancer survivor, and someone who believes that we are not defined by the most difficult aspects of our story.

Hello out there! I am slowly clawing my way out of a world of infomercials for Pajama Jeans (I tracked down a fellow blogger’s article and the You Tube video for your viewing pleasure), stuffy apartment air, and a blend of Extra Strength Tylenol and Zopiclone that has held me captive since my surgery last Monday. I had forgotten the bone numbing fatigue and the feeling of dementia that comes with the post operative process.

I hope to return to the blogosphere next week, once I track down my sense of humour and my ability to concentrate on a task for longer than ten minutes. Until then, I thought I would share links to my first two published articles, in the somewhat unlikely event that you are suffering from ‘A Fresh Chapter’ withdrawal.

Both articles revolve around the young women’s survivor conference that I attended in Toronto last October and wrote about in my post entitled I’ll Show You Mine, If You Show Me Yours.

The CEO of the Canadian Breast Cancer Network read the above blog entry and asked me to expand it into a 2000 word article hi-lighting my experience at the conference as well as sharing my personal story. Before clicking the link, pour yourself a glass of wine or grab your cup of coffee because it might take a little time to find me on page 20 and then wade through the article. As a reward for your diligence, I promise that I will shamelessly share my unsuccessful pre-cancer obsession with marriage and motherhood. CBCN Network News – Winter 2011 Edition

For the ‘reader’s digest’ version of the conference and my attempt to reclaim the confidence that cancer rudely stole from me,  here’s the link to an article I wrote for the most recent edition of A Breast and The Rest. Thank you Deb Rusch for the opportunity to work with you on this piece. I hope that we get the chance to do it again soon.

If the story of my exhibitionism is growing thin, don’t worry – I hope to have new content for you as early as next week. On the subject of my chest, I am getting used to my brand new ‘rack’ and although I look nothing like Pamela Anderson, I will do my best to entertain you with tidbits from my latest surgery very soon.

Until then, it’s back to the couch for my afternoon nap…
