Walking The Walk Is A Helluva Lot Harder Than Talking The Talk…

Terri Wingham is the founder and CEO of A Fresh Chapter, a cancer survivor, and someone who believes that we are not defined by the most difficult aspects of our story.

photo-27Where do you go when one big hairy audacious dream ends and you have to choose between setting your sights on the next giant mountain or retreating into the land of safety and security?

In April this year – after 18 months of different cities, faces, beds, and timezones – I rolled my suitcase through the door of my childhood bedroom and sealed the world out. In spite of the success of #Delhi2013, I felt unsure of exactly how to move forward and a big part of me wondered how it would feel to slip under the sheets and pull them over my head forever.

A few weeks of strategic planning, revising, and restarting later, I wrote the post When Is It Time To Throw In The Towel? If you have been reading A Fresh Chapter for awhile, you might have guessed that I often write what I most need to read. (more…)

So honest and so inspiring! I am rooting for you! As a fellow cancer survivor who is contemplating how to seize the moment and make my own dreams become reality I really admire what you are doing. Keep up the great work and if you are ever on the east coast would love to meet!!

Hey Terri, keep pressing on! I’ll be up in the Bay Area in September, so let’s definitely meet up.

Thanks Steve!! I am probably going to be LA in late June, so maybe we can meet up then too. Looking forward to continuing to support Volunteer Forever and I continue to be so grateful for your support! Terri

I’d love to meet up with you in Vancouver. I’d love to support your cause in some way. I am a 4 time breast cancer survivor who has lived 25 years from the first diagnosis. I guess I haven’t fulfilled my purpose in life yet and maybe together we can help each other as well as all the other women out there.

Sharon – Thanks so much for the note! Will message you back about meeting up in Vancouver. Terri

Hi Terri! There is a #BCSM contingent here in LA — and though I’ve not met anyone in person (yet!), I would love to meet you when you’re in town! you can email me at rennasus at gmail dot com.

Go for it Terri, and hopefully your dedication will inspire those you meet at every stop. Through your blog, your online presence, your planning and your actions – you’ve definitely got the ‘inspiration’ side of things down pat. I hope the logistics can all roll into place for you next.

Having watched your dream unfold from the moment you decided you were giving up the comforts of your home, I am in awe of what you have accomplished. I’ve been doing things a bit half-assed these past few weeks and your timely, wise, beautiful and encouraging words have helped more than I can share.

    Love to you always,

    AnneMarie
