Are You Too Spermy? On How You Know It’s Time To Be The Egg…
Yes. I said “spermy” and no, I’m not writing about s-e-x, or infertility, or dating. Instead, today’s #StartFresh post is inspired by Lissa Rankin. In late 2012, Lissa wrote a 5-part blog series illustrating how each of us (man or woman) has the capacity to be either eggy or spermy at different times in our lives. This analogy struck a chord with me and I’ve been quoting her in conversations ever since.
This weekend, as I drove up the California Coast, I reflected on my life in the “spermy” lane. Whether it was competing for the top academic spot in my high school graduating class or getting high on the thrill of seeing my name on the Top 10 List for best performing recruiters in the country, validation was my drug of choice and the “spermier” I was, the more positive reinforcement I got.
Can you relate? Maybe you have been the first to arrive and the last to leave the office because you wanted a shot at a big promotion or you moved from 0-60 miles an hour in a new relationship because you wanted to lock down the girl of your dreams before someone else beat you to it? I’m not judging. Anyone with audacious dreams and big ambitions needs to take massive action on the path to creating a meaningful and financially secure life.
But, what if action isn’t always the quickest way to success? What if – every once in a while – instead of sprinting on the hamster wheel of accomplishment, we could make a conscious decision to be a little more eggy? (more…)

Thanks Catherine – Always love hearing your comments and you are in my thoughts! T xo
Terri, so glad to have had the chance to meet you while in LA and hear your joy and inspiration in person. What you are doing is truly remarkable. I remember you mentioning the “know when to be the egg or the sperm” concept, happy to read your fresh take on it. Being eggy really IS all it’s cracked up to be! (Sorry, I couldn’t resist!) Enjoy the journey,
-Renn
