Fundraising as Part of Your Fresh Chapter

“One thing you have to remember is: the people who want to help, will. The ones you least expect will step forward. And most of all, if you don’t ask, the answer is always no.” ~ Hannah, Peru 2016

Fundraising

Fundraising can be challenging and often, the most difficult part is creating the content for your fundraising campaign and pressing send on the first email to friends and family asking for their support. For many of us, fundraising can challenge us to step out of our comfort zones.

If you’re feeling a little nervous, it might help to consider that you’re not just ‘asking people for money’. You are rallying your community around a cause that is important to you. People love to feel included – especially in something that matters. Through you, your friends and family will have the opportunity to be part of the Africa Elevate program – including seeing Kenya and the work we are doing there through your eyes. It can be helpful to remember that you are contributing to a program that ultimately has a vision to impact the lives of 15,000 Africans by 2025.

Before I started fundraising, I tried to give myself a confidence boost by making a list of all the people I knew for sure would donate. It turns out, I knew nothing! 🙂 Many of my actual donors were friends I hadn’t talked to in years, relatives I didn’t know, and strangers who found out about me through someone else sharing my posts. — Tanessa, Peru 2016
