What Are You Thankful For? A Few Words of Wisdom on Gratitude…
Babies crying, cell phones ringing, air traffic control men waving orange batons, and the rolling of plastic bins through the airport security machine. It’s Tuesday morning and I am at the Prince George airport, about to board my flight back to Vancouver for a couple of action packed days. Then, the journey continues with a flight to Atlanta on Friday (assuming the Air Canada flight attendants don’t walk off the job) to attend the O You event (more on that soon).
For now, I am sitting with my possessions at my feet and reflecting on the Thanksgiving weekend I just spent with my family. In this moment, I am filled with nothing but gratitude. Gratitude for the long conversations with my siblings; for the smiles on the faces of my niece and nephews; for the health of my parents, for turkey and laughter, and for crisp walks amidst the fall colours.
Sure, some moments, gratitude slips away and I wonder if I’m on the right path as I set out for the Next Chapter in my life, but the question I keep asking is, Why Not? Why Not Dream Big Dreams? Why Not Face My Fears and Choose Freedom? Why Not Meet Interesting People? Why Not Live As If This Is All There Is? (more…)
