A Fresh Chapter

AFC Leaders Program

A Fresh Take on Leadership Development

There has never been a more important time in the world to build resilient leaders. Whether you lead a team at work or show up for others in your community or family, you are a leader. But, with the busy pace of life and all that you are juggling, how do you find the time and the resources to invest in yourself and grow your leadership skills?

There are countless approaches to leadership training. At A Fresh Chapter, we focus on the human side of leadership. Our programs are designed to give you the tools (and the time) to pause and reflect on your values and leadership goals while also offering frameworks to help you build resilience and emotional intelligence. In addition to your personal development, we also give you tools, perspectives, and connection opportunities to help you invest in others — particularly those who come from different backgrounds.

Since 2013, AFC has offered our unique personal growth and development programs to hundreds of people impacted by cancer, including leaders across the advocacy community.

Program Overview

The AFC Leaders Program is a foundational leadership and professional development program that focuses on themes like emotional intelligence, compassionate leadership, resilience, embracing a growth mindset, and inclusion. The core program consists of six weeks of virtual one-hour sessions where we explore leadership through the lens of AFC’s tools as well as I.D.E.A. (inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility). Those that complete the core program also have the opportunity to register for additional training sessions related to advocacy and facilitation.

This program welcomes cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers within the AFC Alumni Community as well as cancer advocates from around the world, with limited spots available.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and partners, AFC offers scholarships to ensure that people around the world can participate in this program at no personal cost.

[The AFC Leaders Program] offers a unique approach to leadership development compared to other programs I have participated in. The program focuses on personal growth and self-reflection, encouraging participants to explore their values, beliefs, and goals in a deeper way. Additionally, the program emphasizes practical skills and tools that can be immediately applied in real-world situations, making it highly impactful and relevant. Overall, the program stands out for its holistic approach to leadership development, combining personal growth with practical skills. — Catherine, 2024 AFC Leaders Alum
