Cancer changes everything. A Fresh Chapter’s Empower Workshops offer you access to new tools, resources, and perspectives. Each workshop provides you a chance to reflect on your experiences – of cancer and beyond – and discover growth and learning in the process. Check back for workshops to be announced. 

Each session has a maximum capacity of approximately 20 participants and will not be recorded. Attending the live call is the only chance to experience the material. Empower Workshops are open to survivors, caregivers, and thrivers impacted by any type of cancer and all stages of disease.

AFC 101: Essential Tools for Navigating Life + Cancer

Whether as a patient or caregiver, cancer changes everything. But cancer is only part of your story. At A Fresh Chapter, we believe you deserve the tools and support needed to redefine what you want life to look like now. In our new 90-minute interactive workshop, we’ll introduce you to four core AFC tools designed to help you reflect on the impact cancer has had on your life and connect with others navigating similar paths. Through this workshop, you’ll gain tools to help you begin to reclaim your story. This workshop, led by and for the cancer community, offers ample time for personal reflection and small group discussion.

Where Do I Go From Here?

When life isn’t working out the way we’d hoped, we may desire to make a change—but what does that look like? This workshop is an opportunity to brainstorm potential pivots in your life as well as explore the opportunities and challenges that go along with them. Through this workshop, you’ll gain actionable insights and begin to map out micro-steps to forge a new path — whether you are living with or beyond cancer.

When Well-Meaning People Say The Wrong Thing

Going through cancer means we must deal with complex emotions—not only our own, but often those of the people around us. People may say things that aren’t helpful, even if their hearts are in the right place. This workshop will offer valuable discussion and the chance to develop a personal toolkit for managing those challenging conversations.

Storytelling for Impact

This 2-hour workshop is tailored to patients, survivors, and caregivers seeking to approach their story from a fresh perspective. In this interactive session, we will demystify storytelling and offer you an opportunity to exchange ideas with fellow participants. Whether you’re an experienced storyteller seeking fresh insights or someone who is just dipping your toes into the idea of sharing your story, our goal is to equip you with the building blocks to elevate your storytelling skills.

What Lights You Up?

In this 60-minute workshop, we’ll explore how meaning and purpose may have shifted for us because of cancer, and share ideas for finding new meaning in our lives as a way to take back our stories. Join this session for new tools and perspectives, and opportunities to reflect and share alongside others.

Finding Possibility in the Midst of Uncertainty

We have all faced incredible amounts of uncertainty in our lives, whether because of cancer or the pandemic. Join this 60-minute interactive session to connect with fellow survivors, thrivers, and caregivers, and explore how we can equip ourselves to manage ongoing uncertainty — or even to find new possibilities in the midst of it.
